The average pilot is approximately 46 years old and getting older. As pilot age, their performance degrades and is not the same as when they were in their thirties. In the airline industry a pilot’s age is a limiting factor but in General Aviation operating under Part 91 there is no defined age where pilots are required to stop flying.

Joe Biviano will review some historical data from the FAA archives explaining how age affects pilot performance. After reviewing some factors which demonstrates how age affects pilots's flying skills and the warning sign to look for, he will suggest strategies to compensate for the effects of age as pilots continue to pursue their passion for flight.
