Art Phillips was a much beloved friend and supporter of the Ninety-Nines and the aviation community who passed away on January 6, 2022. The Ventura County Ninety-Nines have established this website and the Art Phillips Scholarship as a tribute to his memory.
The Art Phillips Scholarship will provide up to four $5,000 scholarships for initial flight training toward a private pilot land or rotorcraft-helicopter license to young men and young women between the ages of 16-23 (at any time during the 2023 calendar year) who reside or work in Ventura County or fly out of Ventura County airports. The chapter anticipates awarding the scholarship(s) at the Wings Over Camarillo Air Show, August 19-20, 2023 at Camarillo Airport.
No previous flight training is required, but extra consideration will be given to student pilots already in a training program or with flight or simulator hours documented by a Certified Flight Instructor.
Applications accepted online from June 15 to June 30, 2023.
